High School Poetry Jam
Poetry Jams are designed to teach high school students to express themselves through writing and performing poetry. During the school level jams, a local poet performs for students and then instruction is provided to help students create their own poems.  The students spend about an hour writing poems.  During this time, the media center is transformed into a coffee house.  After the students complete their poems, they gather in the coffee house to drink espresso and listen to each other perform. One student from each school level jam is selected by the audience to represent the school at the District Poetry Jam.
